Dimas Paredes (Pucallpa, Ucayali, 1954) was born in Santa
Rosa, district of Masisea, Pucall-pa-Ucayali. Dimas studied
at the “Usko Ayar” school of the teacher Pablo Amaringo in
Pucallpa. Paredes’ work shows this dreamlike world where the
master plants and the beings that inhabit the multidimensions
proposed by Amazonian Thought, interact from their wisdom
with the reality of the Amazon and the world in a way that
proposes solutions to the great problems, evidencing the
urgent need to recognize the ancestral knowledge that today
is valid for the memory and knowledge of humanity.
He was greatly influenced by his teacher and father Laurencio
Paredes “BANCO SUMI”, a great master of the practices with
the sacred plants of the Amazon, he spoke 14 indigenous
dialects and began as a teacher at the age of 14.
Dimas absorbed the knowledge and love for plants that his
father left him, and so he shares this inheritance through his
painting to share it with the world and connect with his father.
He has exhibited in various national and international spaces
such as Finland, Japan, Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Singapore,
Switzerland, Russia and Spain.
His work is currently part of the Hochschild-Correa Collection,
one of the most important collections in Latin America.
